Summer is drawing to a close: we are having fewer really hot days, the evenings are beautiful and cool enough to get a comfortable night's sleep. Autumn really is one of the perfect times of the year in and around McGregor. The days are glorious with the mountains and the vines dressed in most spectacular colours. The Slow Wine Weekend team has partnered with Millstone Pottery and its world-renowned potters, Paul de Jongh and Nina Shand to create this long weekend experience.
So 2016 ended with a crash-bang-wallop, and the proverbial wheels fell off for the Slow Wine Weekends’ team. We were both forced to take our eyes off the ball and focus on matters less fun – like our day jobs. Anyhow, we are back and are again dreaming up fabulous slow wine weekends for all you wine and food lovers out there.
This bubbly weekend introduces guests to five estates that produce either organic sparkling wine or in the traditional Méthode Cap Classique of Champagne. For the major part of the weekend, we provide transport with a designated driver for Saturday transport to tastings, wineries and dinner on Saturday
This Slow Wine Weekend showcases the essence of McGregor: all the wineries and establishments that guests will experience, except Sunday lunch, being synonymous with the village. This all-inclusive package incorporates transport from (and to) Cape Town International Airport, accommodation in McGregor at a range of well-equipped establishments, as well as meals, selected wines and wine tasting. With all this included, and no need to drive, R6,225 per person sharing is a bargain!
